Publications in calendar year 2006
This, the fourth annual report Thames Valley Archaeological Services Ltd [TVAS] has produced, covers our activities in the calendar year 2006. Reports are produced each summer to cover the preceding calendar year.
Thames Valley Archaeological Services was set up by Steve Ford in 1988 and is a medium sized archaeological field unit; we became a Limited Company in 1999. We have carried out over 1500 projects and produced around 1800 reports over these 18 years. These projects range from 1 person/day watching briefs to substantial area excavations involving a large team of excavation and post-excavation staff. Our corporate and individual experience is extensive and we undertake projects of all periods and site types. We produce reports for clients and for archive, and publish significant findings in local, regional and national learned (peer-reviewed) journals, as well as in our own refereed monograph series.
TVAS (Ireland) was established in April 2003, based in Ennis, Co. Clare and has expanded, undertaking several large infrastructural projects.
In 2006, 155 new projects were commissioned, while 157 client reports and 18 publication reports were produced from these or earlier projects (some commissioned projects have yet to reach reporting stage).
